When people make poor decisions, and engage in reckless driving behaviors they risk the lives of other people on the road. Young and inexperienced drivers who are not yet sure of how to handle certain situations may be the biggest risk on the road.

Traveling at a surprising rate of 135 mph, a 21-year-old man ultimately ended his life, as well as the lives of three innocent people. Upon investigation of the driver’s previous record, officers found that he received eight traffic citations over the past five years and his driver’s license had been suspended four times. In fact, he had just gotten his license back a month prior the tragic accident.

When the speeding Mercedes Benz hit the victims’ Chevrolet Impala, the force was great enough to set the vehicle back and to the side 195 feet. The car that was smashed by the careless motorist held a 52-year-old man, his 50-year-old wife and their 20-year-old daughter, all of whom lost their lives. The passenger of the vehicle that caused the fatal car accident received serious injuries and is still in the hospital being treated for a brain injury.

People who have been injured or have lost a loved one in a terrible tragedy that occurred at the hands of an irresponsible person have legal rights. An attorney in Illinois may be helpful in answering questions and exploring victims’ legal options.
