PERSONAL PROFILE OF G. BRADLEY HANTLA

G. Bradley Hantla (Brad) was born in Litchfield, Illinois, in August of 1947. Brad worked his way through college and law school, working with his father as a carpenter from age 16 until his graduation from law school. Brad was a member of Carpenters Local 725. His father was a member of that same Local for over 55 years. In 1969, he married his wife, Anne. Two children were born to Anne and Brad, a daughter, Elizabeth, and a son, Christopher. In 1999, upon his graduation from law school, Christopher joined his father in the practice of law, and the name of the firm was changed from G. Bradley Hantla, Ltd. To Hantla & Hantla, Ltd.

Brad attended the University of Mississippi and obtained a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration. He thereafter attended St. Louis University School of Law and obtained his Juris Doctorate degree in 1973. During his college and law school preparation, Anne, who was a teacher, taught in the Metro East area. Upon graduation from law school, Brad went to work for a Belleville law firm and remained in practice in Belleville from 1973 through 1976. In 1976, Brad left Belleville, Illinois, to form his own law Firm in Litchfield, Illinois, and has remained there since.

During his career, Brad has been active in various legal organizations. He has the highest rating attainable for an attorney (AV) by the highly respected Martindale-Hubbell. An AV rating indicates a very high to preeminent legal ability and very high ethical standards as established by confidential opinions from other attorneys. He is a member of the Illinois State Bar Association, a member and past president of the Montgomery County Bar Association, and a member of the Missouri Bar Association. He was one of two delegates elected to the Illinois State Bar Association General Assembly for the Fourth Judicial Circuit and served in that capacity from 1993 through 2001. (By rule, he could only be elected for two, two-year terms.) He was a member of the Illinois State Bar Association General Practice Section Council from 1994 through 2003. He remains a member of the Judiciary Advisory Polls Council for the Illinois State Bar Association. He is a past member of the Board of Directors of the Litchfield National Bank, a national banking corporation and of Litchfield Bancshares, Inc. Board of Directors. He was a member of a seven member panel selected by the Illinois State Bar Association for recommendation of three candidates for the Federal District Judge for the Southern District of Illinois, with a final candidate to be selected by Senator Dick Durbin for submittal to the president of the United States for confirmation by the U.S. Senate. He is a member of the Committee on Resolutions and Drafting for the Illinois State Bar Association, a member of the Standing Committee on Judicial Evaluations Outside Cook County, and a member of the Standing Committee on Judicial Evaluations for Cook County. He is also a member of the Special Committee on Implementation of Transfer of a Law Practice proposal, having been specially appointed by President Tim Eaton of the Illinois State Bar Association. He is licensed to practice before the United States Supreme Court, the United States District Court for the Southern District of Illinois and the Central District of Illinois, and the Eighth District United States Court of Appeals. He is currently listed in Who's Who in American Law and Who's Who in the United States.

Brad has been a speaker and presenter for seminars held by the Illinois State Bar Association for its annual and mid-year meetings in lake Geneva, Wisconsin, Chicago, Bloomington and Collinsville, Illinois. He was the author of a number of articles for the Illinois State Bar Journal, which is published and distributed to all 30,000 + members of the Illinois State Bar Association. Brad has also co-authored the following articles with his son, Christopher B. Hantla: Protecting Your Client From Their Own Insurance Carrier and When is the Running of the Statute of Limitations Not a Good Defense?

Brad has served as the City Attorney for Litchfield from December 1993 through the present, and previously served as City Attorney for Litchfield from 1981 to 1983. He is the attorney for numerous banks in Litchfield, including the Litchfield National Bank, a national banking corporation, Litchfield Bancshares, Inc. the Bank & Trust Company, an Illinois banking corporation, and LBT Bancshares, Inc. He is also the attorney for Litchfield Community Unit School District No. 12, the Litchfield Park District, Montgomery County Public Building Commission and Litchfield Airport Authority. Brad has been active in the trial and litigation of many matters throughout his career in downstate Illinois and the Metro East area. Although Brad has been active in many areas of law, his primary concentration has always been, and continues to be in litigation.

In his off-time, Brad is an avid golfer and quail hunter. Much of his free time also is concentrated with being with his family.
